Jamilya from the Dagestan village Akusha is only 2 years old. But her kidneys are huge like two weights. More recently, Jamilya used to wake up with such severe swelling on her face that her eyes turned into slits. And the belly, due to the fluid accumulated as a result of nephrotic syndrome, swelled like a ball. Jamilya could not get into her favorite dress.
The doctors managed to relieve the swelling, but the girl's disease - polycystic kidneys - cannot be treated. The girl needs a renal transplantation. The surgery itself is free of charge, but in order to help the new kidney work for a long time (about 30 years) expensive immunosuppressors are needed. Unfortunately, these drugs are not covered by the medical insurance, and for a large family the amount is impracticable.
Jamilya can live happily ever after on a donor kidney, which her father wants to give her. So far, every day of life is like a gift from above for her.
