Thanks to you, social curators continue to help Kolya and 120 disabled wards

Perspektivi

Foundation St. Petersburg

Thank you to everyone who supported the project! Thanks to donations, we paid for the work of social curators who help wards with severe disabilities in a psychoneurological boarding house. People with severe developmental disabilities often end up in a boarding house after 18 years of age and live here for the rest of their lives. These institutions are still quite closed. Many residents of the boarding house do not leave its walls from the moment of settlement, that is, they remain invisible to the world and do not see the world around them. But regardless of the degree of developmental disabilities, it is important for any person to have the opportunity to communicate, develop, and be integrated into the socio-cultural space. To do this, our social curators come to the boarding house every day so that the people's lives become better and more fulfilling. Specialists conduct general monitoring of the health and emotional state of the wards. They make sure that the person has the appropriate individual rehabilitation equipment: a wheelchair, a walker. A social curator is a friend who will listen, ask how things are, remind you about classes at the Perspektivy workshops and help you get there, and show you the world outside the boarding house.

Campaign information

Kolya has a severe disability. He needs the help of a social supervisor!

Kolya is 46 years old and has a severe disability — a combination of physical and mental impairments. He lives in a psychoneurological boarding house. For a long time, Kolya was unsociable, sitting for hours in his wheelchair in the corridor, leafing through magazines and silently observing what was happening. His life changed when Sonya, a social supervisor, came into his life. With her support, Kolya started attending music and computer studios, adaptive exercise classes, started travelling to the art residence "Perspektivy" in Sevkabel Port, acquiring new skills, such as cooking simple meals. Now going for walks and leaving the boarding house is as natural for Kolya as breathing. With Sonya they visit museums and exhibitions, walk around the city. Kolya has changed — he has opened up, he is ready to communicate and try new things. To ensure that people with disabilities in the psychoneurological boarding house are not left alone and feel cared for, they are accompanied by Perspektivy's social supervisors. This specialist is the voice of a person with a disability who finds it difficult or sometimes impossible to speak up, articulate their needs and assert their rights. Please support the project, so that Kolya and 120 others will always have a social supervisor by their side!
