Friends!

Olga and Alexander, with a severe type of epidermolysis bullosa (EB), faced a serious complication of their disease — the development of squamous cell carcinoma of the skin, one of the most dangerous forms of cancer among patients with epidermolysis bullosa.

Our efforts were aimed at covering the costs associated with pre-hospitalization, purchase of expensive dressings, specialized equipment for movement and transportation of patients to St. Petersburg and back. In addition, by adjusting the list of prescribed procedures, we were able to provide assistance to two more patients with a similar diagnosis and complication of the disease (cancer).

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to everyone who supported the project by providing financial assistance or sharing information about our collection.

"Thank you so much to all those who took part in fundraising for me. Thanks to the amount I collected, I was able to undergo a full examination and buy an electric wheelchair. I've wanted it for a long time, because now I'm no longer trapped in four countries, but I can spend my time outside. Go wherever you want, go out with friends for as long and comfortably as possible. Thank you all again for your help and support!" says Alexander.

About the campaign

Olga and Alexander have squamous cell skin cancer. They need hospitalization to prepare for cancer surgery

The most severe form of EB – dystrophic – is fraught with the fact that in places of permanent damage, a malignant process begins over time. By the age of 35, more than half of patients with EB are faced with squamous cell skin cancer.

This disaster happened to both Olga and Alexander. Skin cancer in patients with EB is very aggressive, but they can be helped. Adult "butterflies" have been operated on for many years at the N.N. Petrov Oncology Research Center in St. Petersburg, and they do it according to a quota. Unfortunately, the state of health of our wards requires complex preparation for surgery.

All this - pre-hospitalization, transportation costs, dressings for the entire stay in St. Petersburg - is paid by the foundation.

We are opening a collection for Olga and Alexander so that doctors can prepare them for cancer surgery. This is a guarantee that the intervention and the postoperative period will pass without complications, and our adult “butterflies” will continue to live and create.
