Eleven-year-old Artem from Bashkortostan is a calm and kind boy. He looks a bit younger than his age, which can happen when there’s no one to grow up for. Artem has no parents, and for most of his life, his world has been confined to the walls of the orphanages.
Artem also faces another challenge—serious health issues. Due to a congenital condition, he has undergone several surgeries, but he hasn’t been able to fully recover; his legs are giving out on him.
In Moscow, the boy underwent surgery at the Federal State Budgetary Institution "N.N. Priorov National Medical Research Center of Traumatology and Orthopedics" under the Ministry of Health of Russia. Experienced doctors believe that Artem should see improvement; the key is to continue his treatment and undergo rehabilitation. Recently, he completed one such program at the "Mosaic" center. Noticeable changes are evident after each course. Artem continues to pursue his dream of walking independently but requires special care. To continue his treatment in the capital, a nanny must stay by his side.
