Fatima is 2 years old. One month after birth, doctors discovered the girl had an open arterial duct (OAP), a congenital heart defect in which there is an abnormal vascular connection between the aorta and the pulmonary artery. Normally this duct is closed immediately after birth, but in Fatima's case it remained open and, if not corrected, blood from the heart will begin to overflow and fill the lungs.
The treatment is a mechanical closure of the duct with a special device, the AMPLATZER Duct Occluder. Unfortunately, it is not available in Russia. So it can only be rented and brought from Germany to Moscow especially for Fatima. This surgery will cost 340,000 rubles.
The girl's parents turned to us for help. They say that their daughter is a very affectionate child, she likes to sit on their arms all the time and she doesn't want to come down from her lap at all. Sometimes she can be persistent and get what she wants.
