Almost 1,400 Tooba users supported our cause for Salih! We appreciate everyone’s help. Dear friends, thanks to your donations, we purchased two oxygen concentrators, an electric suction unit, and a pulse oximeter—in short, all the devices Salih needs for health reasons. At the Lighthouse we share the basic value that every critically ill child could lead a life full of joy like his healthy peers. Salih, too, now lives at home with his parents and elder siblings. We helped organize his transfer. Before that Salih stayed in ICU for 6 months and his parents weren’t allowed to visit him. Now Salih can play with his older brother and sister. He grows and learns new skills little by little. And the good news is, his condition is stable now. However, it is crucial that doctors and parents continue to monitor Salih’s health and development. We are thankful for the support of the Tooba users who helped Salih.

Salih needs medical equipment to live at home

Salih is almost a year and a half old. He was born prematurely and had to spend six months alone in the intensive care unit. Due to the pandemic-related restrictions, even his mother and father were not allowed to see him. He suffered from hypoxia which caused severe damage to his central nervous system and provoked health complications and diseases. Since the boy's condition was stabilized and restrictions were eased, Salih has been with his mother. At the hospital, she learned how to take care of her youngest son. Salih also has an older brother and a sister. Salih's parents found out about “The Lighthouse” in a local outpatient clinic and called for help. Last summer it became possible to bring Salih home. His family got the necessary medical equipment. Now a pediatrician and a nurse from the Children's hospice pay visits to Salih. Apart from that, he has regular sessions with a play therapist. Sometimes his brother and sister participate in these sessions as well. Salih likes both musical toys and music apps on the tablet. Different toys make him think of his own way of playing. But Salih has trouble swallowing so he coughs frequently when the games are on. To live at home, Salih needs medical equipment on a permanent basis. Namely, he needs two oxygen concentrators, a stationary one and a portable one, which help maintain the optimal level of oxygen saturation, an electric suction unit so that Salih’s parents can eliminate sputum from his lungs, and a pulse oximeter.
