Help for People in Need and Low-Income Families

Poverty rarely looks the way people imagine it. It is an older woman who has nothing left for groceries after paying for her medicines. A mother of three deciding what matters more this winter - coats or firewood. A man who lost his job and his home almost at once. The charities gathered here help people in difficult circumstances: low-income and large families, single parents, older people with small pensions, people without a home.

They hand out food packages and hot meals, collect clothing and medicines, help with heating and repairs, and get children ready for school so they arrive no worse off than their classmates. Many work case by case - they know each family and what it needs - and help people get back on their feet: find work, learn a trade, claim the benefits they are entitled to.
