Mariam was examined

Maryam is never bored, because she is growing up in a friendly and big family. She has 12 brothers and sisters at once! Now Maryam is three years old and a little behind in her development, but her mother's love and her family's care keep her going. The girl is developing, she understands everything, says few words and always knows exactly what she needs - she can show it with her pen. She loves it when older children read her children's books and sing her cartoon songs. Maryam was born with a diagnosis of spina bifida (cleft spine). Because of this right after birth she had to undergo several surgeries. But the consequences of this diagnosis could not be avoided - Maryam's legs do not work, and her fingers and toes are always balled up into fists. In addition to movement problems, children with spina bifida have another peculiarity that can cause serious harm to their health: they have no control over their bladder - they just don't feel that it's time to go to the toilet. Meanwhile, the urine goes back to the kidneys, and the children end up developing a urinary tract infection: from a mild form of cystitis to a severe one with kidney damage - pyelonephritis. Children like Mariam have to be examined by a neuro-urologist every year. It's called CUDI. It is a comprehensive study, which allows you to assess how strongly the phase of accumulation and emptying of urine is disturbed, and whether you need to compensate for it with medicines, and to connect additional methods of urine diversion. In other words, CUDI is essentially a complete screening of the urinary system. Unfortunately, there is no neuro-urologist in the small village of Rostov region, where Mariam's large family lives. And you have to go to Moscow for the important examination. CUDI is not included in the list of mandatory medical examinations that a child undergoes when a disability is established. Polyclinic doctors rely on standard examination protocols - blood and urine tests.
