Abdullah is 6 years old. By the age of one, the boy did not respond to the name, did not play with other children, and he did not have an index finger. Specialists diagnosed him with a delay in speech development with autistic traits. Abdullah does not understand the addressed speech and does not speak, he has stereotypical behavior, and eye contact can be very unstable. The boy is afraid of the dark and does not know how to eat on his own, which makes his daily life even more difficult.
During the AVA classes, the teacher worked with Abdullah on the skill of requests. A new stage of an alternative communication system using PECS cards has been introduced to the boy, and now it is much easier for the child to ask an adult for what he wants. The work with the token system of incentives and rewards also continued, Abdullah began to show more interest in classes, and the number of episodes of undesirable behavior decreased.
Thanks to adaptive physical education classes, the boy improved his physical skills and form. Now Abdullah is able to perform basic exercises (running, jumping, crawling, throwing a ball) without the support of a coach, and roller skating and cycling training have begun!
Classes on sensory integration and ART therapy were held in a playful way that was comfortable for the child. The specialists worked to develop Abdullah's tactile system, as well as visual and sensorimotor perception skills. Elements of aromatherapy and plastinography, cereals, small and larger toys of various shapes were also used. Abdullah has improved his large and small motor skills, visual coordination, and has learned to hold a pencil and felt-tip pen on his own.
