Amir is a small but very serious young man from Kazan. He is 8 years old, he loves trains and when his mother reads him picture books.
After birth, Amir was diagnosed with multiple anomalies in the development of the spine and limbs. In 2018, doctors at the Turner Institute in St. Petersburg performed surgery on the legs, and in 2019, they performed maxillofacial plastic surgery. They also advised my mother to consult a geneticist.
Based on the results of genetic analysis, Amir was diagnosed with a rare disease – Larsen Syndrome. It is a complex disease affecting joints, bones and connective tissues. Since then, treatment and monitoring have become a permanent part of the boy’s life.
Amir has already undergone several surgeries and undergoes rehabilitation courses every year. Only at the age of 5 was he able to take his first steps - before that he only crawled. Now he continues to fight for a full life and despite pain, restrictions and numerous examinations, he maintains fortitude and optimism.
Now Amir and his family really need help: a lightweight wheelchair that will be comfortable for a boy who only has one leg that bends. Amir and his mother are constantly on the move – they go to many classes and rehabilitation courses in their city and other cities.
