9-year—old Roma has a rare genetic syndrome - Treacher Collins. Due to the underdevelopment of the facial bones, he has a small jaw, no auricles, and hearing is reduced to grade 3 hearing loss.
He heard his first clear sounds almost a year ago, when he was fitted with a bone conduction hearing aid. From that moment on, he began to accumulate a passive vocabulary, and by the age of three he had his first words. Now Roma speaks in sentences. He has an excellent memory, he can recite the text he has read in detail, but only his speech is too indistinct. If the mother and the teacher still understand the words, then the peers refuse to communicate, they leave without listening. Roma is very offended by this. His biggest dream is to speak clearly. The boy is sure that then he will have many friends.
A few years ago, Roma was already undergoing hearing and speech rehabilitation, after which there was incredible progress in speech, he managed to produce many sounds that had been unsuccessfully struggled for many years. While working with specialists, it turned out that despite her deafness, Roma has an excellent ear for music. He unmistakably recognizes all the notes played to him and loves music.
This year, Roma graduated from the zero grade, and in September he will go to the first, and possibly to the music school. By this time, he really needs to improve his pronunciation and make sounds so that speech problems do not interfere with his studies, communication, and friendship. Let's help!
