During her first few months, Katya grew, smiled, crawled, and brought joy to her parents, like all children. But at seven months, everything changed. She had her first seizure. Doctors diagnosed her with generalized epilepsy. From that day on, the family's life was divided into "before" and "after." Endless tests became a familiar routine for Katya and her parents.
Despite her illness, Katya is developing. At one and a half years old, she started walking independently, but with difficulty: she wobbles when walking and often falls. Another challenge is speech. So far, her only words are "mama" and "dada" and a few syllables.
Katya has two older brothers. She often visits their room and curiously examines everything around her.
Katya's treatment currently involves selecting medications. Many medications have already been tried, but unfortunately, they are ineffective in controlling the seizures. To select a medication, a genetic analysis is needed to determine the cause of the illness.
Perhaps this will be the key that unlocks the door to proper treatment. Then Katya will be able to overcome her illness and develop like all children.
